Justice
The facts of injustice worldwide can seem unreal to many of us…but the truth is that there are more slaves today than there were in the entire Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Slavery, in spite of being illegal in every country, is far from being abolished. The number of slaves, 27 million, is incomprehensible. Four generations of entire families are enslaved illegally today because of ten dollar loans. Young girls are trafficked, sold into brothels and are enslaved as become prostitutes. Children are taken and forced to serve as soldiers or sex slaves in rebel armies. The darkness is dark…but our God is greater and no amount of darkness can extinguish the power of His light. We believe that God wants this to “wreck us” and ruin us for ordinary living. He wants us to seek justice and speak up for the rights of the oppressed. And we can be confident, knowing the heart and mission of Jesus, that when we take up the cause of justice for those that cannot fight for themselves, people will be set free, hope will overcome despair and the world will change for the glory of God.
